Heal with Heat, Flow with Touch: Discover the Power of Moxibustion and Shiatsu with Dr. Luca Pella

Have you ever wondered how ancient healing methods like heat therapy and bodywork can regulate the nervous system, strengthen the immune system, and relieve deep muscular tension?

In September 2025, we are honored to host Dr. Luca Pella, an internationally acclaimed expert in Oriental Medicine and Fascial Therapy, for a transformative Moxibustion and Shiatsu training in Kenya. This immersive course will blend traditional Japanese wisdom with modern fascial science to give participants hands-on skills for treating pain, fatigue, immune issues, and nervous system imbalances.

Day 1: Dance with the Tiger; The Art and Science of Moxibustion

The course begins with a deep dive into Moxibustion, a therapeutic heat technique rooted in Traditional Chinese and Japanese Medicine. Dr. Pella will guide participants through:

– Relieve sinus congestion
– Release SCOM (sternocleidomastoid muscle) tension

Day 2: Let’s Go Rock and Roll; Rolling Moxa and Fascia

The second day introduces Tantake Kyu, or Rolling Moxa, a gentle yet powerful technique to stimulate the fascia using heated rolling motion. Participants will learn:

– How to charge, light, and roll the Tantake Kyu
– The mechanics of fascia and mechano-transduction
– Combining Rolling Moxa with Rice Grain Moxa

Full body protocols for:
 – Soft tissue release
– Acute pain via Sinew Channels of Chinese Medicine

Days 3 & 4: The Way of Shiatsu – Healing Through Touch

The final two days are dedicated to Shiatsu, a form of therapeutic bodywork that uses finger pressure along meridians. Dr. Pella will cover:

– The evolution of Shiatsu through Namikoshi and Iokai styles
– How to apply therapeutic pressure with the “Cat-Walking” technique
– Key treatment sequences (Katas) in both prone and supine positions
– Understanding the meridians behind each sequence
– The role of the Hara (abdominal center) in diagnosis and treatment
